Situated at the heart of some of the best walking country in the Lake District National Park in the tiny hamlet of Deepdale, Stone Cottage is just one mile from Patterdale village and a couple of miles south of Ullswater. In 2007 Stone Cottage in the tiny hamlet of Deepdale, Ullswater Valley won "Self Catering Holiday of the Year". Stone Cottage went on to win the regional Northwest Awards 2007 and a gold award in the national Enjoy England Awards for Excellence, 2008.

The judges described Stone Cottage as "a luxuriously renovated character house which feels totally at home in its glorious surroundings.
