local food festival at the bay cafe...
The Bay Café Bar will be showcasing local produce in a unique way during the food festival it is organising on the 18-22 of this month. Head chef Michael Weston-Cole, who trained under Jean Christophe Novelli, is determined to give his diners some fun with their meals, as well as serving them local food.
The festival will be kicked off in style with a 21 course lunch for 21 people priced at £21, followed by four distinctive themes over the following four nights: Historic Cumbrian, East meets West, Classic French and Modern British.
A good example of what Michael Weston-Cole sees as fun, would be on the "East meets West" menu, a fusion of Cumbrian produce with Aisian cuisine. There will be beef sourced from Temple Farm, near Cartmel, and Michael will be making burgers out if it, some served with Wasabi paste on them some without, a foodies version of Russian roulette, if you like. The Historic Cumbrian night will include well known Cumbrian favourites such as Tatie Pot, but also lesser known dishes like the three decker dessert that uses three types of local apples sandwiched between puff pastry. All the suppliers will be on hand in the evening including Cartmel Valley Game, Holker Hall and Mansergh Farm along with other local Cumbrian producers. It promises to be a really good food festival where you can eat the food and meet the producers of some great local produce.
