traditional baking, contemporary setting, fantastic bread...

Munx Bakery, Staveley Mill Yard

Cumbria is home to some great bread makers, the best ones can't keep up with the demand for their products. Two in particular have recently upgraded their ovens and moved to new premises. Staff of Life in Kendal have been successfully supplying Booths supermarket, a supermarket that truly supports our local producers, with a fantastic array of mainly Italian influenced bread. They have just installed a new wood burning oven which Prince Philip managed to see when he visited Cumbria recently.

Installing a new eco friendly wood pellet burning oven and also moving to new premises is Munx Lakeland bakery in Staveley. The oven came from Italy and took a little time to get installed and onto full production, but now it's working at full tilt. The whole shop has been modernised in the move, with a café open early in the morning. So now you can drop by for your freshly baked bread, grab an espresso and read the morning papers in style. It's situated next to the Lucy Cooks cookery school and you can learn Aiden Monks bread secrets on one of the courses he takes at the school, details can be found in the shop or at Lucys.
